Meet New Friends

It’s the people who truly shape the character of a community like Kingsley Manor. Our residents share a common bond that sometimes goes far beyond neighborly friendship. Take James Welsh and Doris Eller. Every year, Kingsley hosts an event called State's Luncheon wherein each table in our dining room represents a different state. In a gesture of hometown pride, each table hangs a state banner. James and Doris knew each other as fellow Kingsley Manor residents, but didn’t realize until the luncheon that they were actually classmates in the same small town high school in South Dakota!

And speaking of school, Julie Thomas is a USC student-in-residence at Kingsley Manor, part of a unique program that transcends generations. Julie was teaching a line dancing class that resident Evelyn Hill faithfully attended. Julie says: “She was my best student and over time Evelyn and I came to know each other on a more personal level. She and I realized we have much in common, including our love of cats and our religious beliefs. I have learned quite a bit from this wise and knowledgeable woman and we always know that we can count on each other for help in times of need.”

Friendships at Kingsley Manor are strong enough to span many generations.
