Make A Difference

Kingsley Manor residents feel a close connection to the local Los Angeles community. This caring spirit has created a culture of giving that has led to some inspiring results. Everett Woodward, a Kingsley resident, professor of American history and Lewis & Clark expedition scholar, teaches three days a week at the Braille Institute and lectures at senior centers and high schools all across Los Angeles. He also conducts regular lectures and presentations to his fellow residents here at Kingsley Manor.

In 2001, an ad in a local newspaper caught the eye of Kingsley resident Price Scott. Stitches from the Heart was looking for volunteers to crochet and knit clothing for premature babies. After seeking the help of several fellow residents, the Kingsley Knitting Crew was born and they quickly went into action. To date, the Crew has donated more than 1,200 blankets, booties, sweaters and hats to this worthy cause.
